SOCIAL HOUSING MILANO
The project consists of two buildings that create a coherent system; the architectural layout starts from the overlapping of the strong signs of the railway in the south, Milano street in the north and also by the axis of Sorbana street. The configuration of volumes provides a well-balanced insertion in the context: it’s not a monolith, but open dynamic volumes, whose features are transparency and permeability. The inner courtyard is a public space, connected to the adjacent park with ramps and pedestrian paths. Private open door spaces are articulated around the public courtyard. In order to revitalize this part of the town, and to involve it in a virtuous context, the ground floor is destined to commercial activities. The shops are located along the street on the north side, and on the opposite side of the existing stores. The commercial square is completed and connected to the park.
