PRIEST’S HOUSE IN MONTEROTONDO
The object of the intervention is a rustic building site in Monterotondo, Brescia.
The project proposes the reconstruction of a real estate unit with a southern garden, intended for residential use. Internally, the house is organized on several levels: ground floor with living / dining room opened to the garden and with a double height, a kitchen, a laundry room and a bathroom, as well as a double-entry, from the garden and from the parking lot; a double height loft opened to the surrounding landscape with a window cut close to the seat level; second floor attic with two bedrooms and a bathroom. The distribution of the top floor is characterized by a large glass volume, which with appropriate setbacks and protrusions creates a small balcony on the south-eastern facade. The layout of the building continues the thread of the adjacent buildings, retaining the characteristic height of the eaves and ridge line. Externally, it is covered by a system of wooden slats that continue up to the ridge – the roof is in fact also made of wooden tiles, in homage to the agricultural tradition of the area to which the building belongs.
